Information About Joint Web Login
Joint Web Login is a solution for Initial Sign-On for web services. E.g. one login for many web services. This means that you use the same login page for many different web services and that you only need to supply your user identity and password once, for all web services you use at the same time.
Joint Web login is also maintaining a higher level of security because you only supply your password to Joint Web Login, not to all web services. Web services that use Joint Web Login only have access to your password and selected personal identifiable information.

Private browsing is called "InPrivate Browsing" in Internet Explorer, "Private Windows" or "Private Browsing" in Firefox, "Incognito mode" or "Incognito windows" in Google Chrome and "Private Browsing" in Safari. For privacy and security reasons, please logout and exit all your web browser windows when you are done accessing services that require authentication.
When you log into a web service that uses Joint Web Login personal identifiable information is sent to the web service to identify you as a user. What personal identifiable information the web service gets depends on a combination of the need of the service and what the university is willing to release to the service. This procedure adheres to the Swedish Personal Data Act. The information that is transferred is registered in the Uppsala University IT service for directory, authentication and authorization.
All web services have access to a unique opaque identifier that makes it possible for you to make settings in the web service and keep them for the next time you log into the service. The unique opaque identifier is not traceable between different web services due to it being unique for the combination of the user and service. Local web services has access to your user identity instead of the unique opaque identifier.
Web services that primarily supports research and education gets access to almost the same information that you automatically send in an email. This personal identifiable information is name, email address and user identity, if you're a student or employee and that you're at the Uppsala University. Registered web services has access to the same information via the GÉANT Data Protection Code of Conduct which follows the European Union Data Protection Directive.Web services for student admissions, coarse registration, exam registration, examination, internship administration self service, scholarship application, user account self service and payroll and employee self service has access to your Swedish national identity number or equivalent.
Joint Web Login uses a so called session cookie in your web browser to remember that you're logged in. If you have multiple web browser windows open, not all of them may have access to the session cookie. Normally it works if you open a new window by choosing "Open new window" (or something like that) in the web browser menu. But if you open a new web browser window via a link on the desktop or on the start menu this window may not have access to the session cookie.
Your web browser can be configured so that it automatically denies cookies or informs you that a web page contains a cookie. If you're not allowing session cookies the web browser will not remember that you're logged in.
For more information about cookies see The Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) information page about cookies.
You can always logout of Joint Web Login at the address https://weblogin.test.uu.se/idp/profile/Logout. If you close all open web browser windows you will also be logged out from Joint Web Login. Some web browsers doesn't log you out when you close all browser windows. If you uses such web browser please use the logout link.
